Dispersant HY-163
Overview:
This product is a high molecular weight block copolymer
solution containing pigment affinity groups and can be used in a variety of
solvent-based formulations. It can also be used for post-remediation of problem
coatings. The same charge is applied to the pigment particles, and the
resulting repulsive force and steric stabilization effectively avoid possible
co-flocculation, so that the multi-pigment system does not produce floating and
blooming. The deflocculation properties of the additive increase the gloss,
color intensity, clarity and hiding power of the coating while reducing the
viscosity of the abrasive.

Usage: In order to get the best performance of the
product, additives should be added to the abrasive first, and then the pigment
should be added. The resin and solvent components of the abrasive are pre-mixed
and then the additives are slowly added with constant stirring. Pigments should
not be added until the additives are mixed evenly. Problematic coatings can be
remedied by post-adding, in which case additives need to be added slowly at
high shear conditions.
Special attention:
Stratification or turbidity may occur at temperatures below 0 °C, heat to 20 °C and mix well. The surface treatment of certain organic pigments can adversely affect the potency of this wetting and dispersing agent. In this case, the same type of untreated pigment can be tried. When used in coil coatings, the interaction between the cationic additive and the acid catalyst must be considered.
